Welcome to megan’s challenge

Megan’s Challenge was established after our gorgeous daughter Megan tragically drowned while on holiday in Gran Canaria in October 2010.

Although we think of Megan every minute of every day, we could not let her name and gorgeous smile be forgotten.

When we think of her now we try to channel all of our thoughts and emotions into raising money for local charities in Megan’s name – undertaking a series of testing challenges, from climbing mountains to arctic dog-sledding.

Megan’s Challenge has been such a success thanks to the huge support and kind donations we’ve received, and we hope you find the stories of our challenges and hopes for the future interesting.

It’s great to be able to support local charities while keeping Megan’s memory alive, and we’d like to thank everyone who has helped and supported us so far.

    Megan's Challenge 10k & Mini Fun Run/Walk 2018 Posted on: Mar 25th, 2018

    By Debbie Thrower Wow what a great day one of our best attended despite the heat.  We raised an awesome amount of £2,795.50 for EACH (East Anglia's Children's Hospice) The Nook. I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved in making Megan’s Challenge Fun Run/Walk on Sunday such a huge success. My thanks to all those who took part in both the 10k and the Mini you were all amazing and hope you all enjoyed it. A special thanks to Jeff and Helen Reed whose help is invaluable, Timer - Carl Manning, Emergency Contact - Mick Ennis. To all the brilliant Race Marshals, Paramedics - Chris and Ryan, Lead Quad – Shane Rasberry, Parking Co-ordinators, First Aiders, Water Stations, Registrars, Cake Makers, Rafflers (all those who donated), Photographers, Baggage Attendants, Transport. Thank you also to Neville Knights - Race Adjudicator. David Marsham - Landowner (without his permission the event wouldn't be possible), Gavin - GSC Barman and helpers who worked tirelessly, McChoppys for great food and last but not least, Les - Volunteer from E.A.C.H (such a lovely man).  Also for all the many lovely and positive compliments we have received which are really appreciated. REGISTER NOW Our annual 10k and Mini Fun Run/Walk is on Sunday 27th May, both races start at 11.00am and take place around the village of Gayton following track and road, starting and finishing at Gayton Social Club. The Mini is approximately 1.5 miles. Both are suitable for people of all ages and abilities from the most competitive runner to those who just like a walk. The minimum age is 6 years old. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the run.     Maddie's Charity Haircut Posted on: Jul 23rd, 2018

    By Debbie Thrower On Saturday 4th August 2018 Maddie Skerry who has been growing her beautiful hair (23ins) for some time, has decided she would like to have it cut and donate it to the Little Princess Trust - http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk She likes the idea that her hair would be made into wigs for children who have lost their own hair.     Mount Kilimanjaro 2016 Posted on: Feb 18th, 2015

    By Debbie Thrower The Result What an amazing achievement and an emotional journey for the four challengers, Richard Waterfield, Stephen Thrower, Danny Boore and Liam Hollands not only did they climb Kilimanjaro a once-in-a-lifetime experience, leaving them with long lasting memories they raised a staggering £15,350.00. After completing the challenge they had a day trip to the Nairobi National Park and also to The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Here they were introduced to the baby elephant fostering programme, so through Megan's Challenge we have adopted two baby elephants and gifted one to Gayton Primary School and the other to Gayton Goslings. Many, many thanks for all the help, support and sponsor's who without them this challenge would not of been achieved. Photos to follow soon The Challenge Megan’s Challenge is excited to announce that on Thursday 29th Sept 2016 a team of challengers Stephen Thrower, Danny Boore, Richard Waterfield and Liam Hollands are travelling to Kenya to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
